Species list

All species illustrated in Pl@ntNet and listed in the WCVP reference are available for identification and entry.

The complete list is available here.

Here are some details:

  1. Plant species not covered: no algae, mosses, liverworts and lichens are available in Pl@ntNet.

  2. Mushrooms are not available in Pl@ntNet, and there are no plans to add them in the short or medium term.

  3. If a species is newly illustrated, the identification engine must be updated (it must be re-trained) for it to be recognized. Depending on the team’s projects, this is done every 3 to 12 months. The version of the identification model is indicated on the website, at the very bottom, or at the bottom of the mobile application options (CNN: YYYY-MM-DD).

When manually entering the species, it may happen that the species is not visible. This may be due to:

  1. Some filters may be active (illustrated species only, species not present in the current flora).

  2. The version of WCVP used in Pl@ntNet is not up to date.

  3. The name used is a synonym not present in Pl@ntNet

  4. WCVP does not include this species (in this case, you can contact Kew).
